Tanzania Ngorongoro Peaberry Gaia Farm (Gold Series)

Caliber Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This Tanzanian peaberry coffee comes from Gaia Farm, a family-owned estate located in the Karatu district along the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. The farm is managed by siblings Neel and Kavita Vohora, multi-generation coffee growers whose family has been in the Tanzanian coffee business since World War II. Gaia Farm spans 620 hectares with 260 hectares planted with coffee, sub-divided into 50 blocs by microclimate or variety. The farm maintains Rainforest Alliance Certification. This peaberry is a naturally occurring mutation where only one round bean forms inside the cherry instead of two, concentrating flavors for a sweeter and more complex cup. Only five to twelve percent of all coffee beans are peaberries, making them more exclusive. Roasted light, this coffee features tasting notes of brown sugar, caramel, and tangerine with a charming, lingering finish.
