Bohnenkartell

About This Coffee

This is a house blend combining naturally processed coffee from Brazil with a fruitier coffee from Ethiopia. The Brazilian component comes from the Cerrado and Mogiana regions at 1250m altitude, featuring Mundo Novo and Catuaí varieties. The Ethiopian component is from the Kaffa region at 1900-1920m altitude with Heirloom varieties. Both components are roasted separately and blended after roasting. The blend offers a full body with pleasant sweetness, featuring flavor notes of cocoa, berry, and nut. It creates a mild, sweet espresso that is particularly well-suited for milk-based drinks.

Bohnenkartell

Maximilian Kranz and Dominik Münstermann founded Bohnenkartell in Essen, building a cafe and roastery whose playful name, meaning "Bean Cartel," belies a serious commitment to specialty coffee. All green coffees meet the SCA Specialty Coffee standard of 80 points or above, and each batch is individually roasted on a drum roaster to preserve the unique aromas and characteristics of its origin. Bohnenkartell also offers SCA certified barista courses, cementing their role as both a quality focused roastery and an educational resource in the Ruhr Valley's specialty coffee scene.
