Kaffeekirsche

About This Coffee

A washed single-origin coffee from El Tambo, Cauca, Colombia, grown at 1,400–2,000 masl by ASMUCAFE (Asociación de Mujeres Agropecuarias de Uribe), a cooperative of female farmers. Made from Castillo and Colombia varieties, harvested selectively at peak ripeness. Processed via double fermentation — cherries rest 14 hours, then pulped and fermented 10 hours in open tanks — followed by three to four washings and 8–12 days of drying. Flavor notes include dark chocolate, dried apple, and molasses, with a balanced body, caramelized sweetness, and fruity acidity.

Kaffeekirsche

Kaffeekirsche was founded in 2014 in Berlin Kreuzberg near Adalbertsrasse, beginning a journey that has seen the roastery move and expand multiple times as demand grew. In 2017 the operation relocated to Böckhstrasse alongside a new cafe and bakery, and by February 2022 the main roastery had settled in Tempelhof with an attached cafe, bringing the total to three Berlin locations. All coffee is drum roasted daily, with a focus on single origin Arabica beans sourced from origins including Colombia, where Pink Bourbon from the Cauca region is among the standout lots. Their omni roast philosophy means each coffee is developed to perform across both espresso and filter brewing methods. Signature roasts like the Dark Side Espresso and Gran Galope, known for its full body and lingering sweetness, showcase the range and ambition of their roasting program.
