About This Coffee

This is a Fine Robusta coffee from India, grown at 1100 meters altitude in Mariyapuram, Idukki District, Kerala. Produced by the Highrange Organic Women Fairtrade Farmers Association (HOWFFA), the first exclusively women-led coffee cooperative in India. The cooperative unites 146 female farmers cultivating 46,820 coffee trees across 384 hectares. The coffee is 100% Coffea canephora (Robusta), classified as Parchment AB, indicating high quality with minimum 16-screen size and uniform beans. It is hand-picked and processed using the washed method. The region offers ideal conditions with moderate temperatures, nutrient-rich forests, and lateritic soils. Post-harvest processing is done at Manarcadu Social Service Society and Bluestar Coffee Curing Works. Roasted to medium-dark, with cupping notes of full body, mild character, milk chocolate, roasted cereals, and very smooth texture. Robusta naturally contains up to three times more caffeine than comparable Arabica varieties.

Beanatic Espresso-Kaffeeröster

Beanatic Coffee Roasters is a specialty roastery near Zurich, born from more than 20 years of experience in IT and a growing obsession with coffee. The name fuses "bean" and "fanatic," and the team embraces that identity fully. They roast on two induction drum roasters, working exclusively with specialty grade green coffee and refining each batch with care. The roastery is driven by an ongoing pursuit of new coffees, new technologies, and new approaches to the craft. For Beanatic, quality has to be present from the raw bean onward. The result is a focused operation that treats roasting as both science and sensory art.
