Simple Kaffa is the coffee project of Berg Wu, a name you can’t really ignore if you’re into serious coffee, especially in Asia. Wu was the first Taiwanese barista to win the World Barista Championship in 2016, and that competitive mindset shows in how obsessively precise the coffee is. Founded in 2011, Simple Kaffa focuses on ultra-clean roasting, rare lots, and flavour profiles that feel polished but still expressive. They work with high-end green coffee, often competition-level, and roast to highlight clarity, sweetness, and structure rather than crowd-pleasing roastiness. We have tasted several of their coffees in Taipei and were blown away every time.
