VWI by CHADWANG is the specialty coffee brand and roastery project from Chad Wang, the Taiwanese barista who won the 2017 World Brewers Cup and has since built a reputation around extremely precise, water-focused brewing and roasting. The name VWI comes from the three forms of water: vapor, water, and ice. Chad treats immaculate water quality as central to coffee extraction and flavour expression. Their beans are seasonally selected single origins and blends, sold in tiers from everyday to limited and unique lots, with clear tasting notes and profiles that reward pour-over and manual brew methods. While best known locally for its flagship Taipei café, VWI also sells roasted beans and products like seasonal blends, espresso-friendly roasts, and drip bags that all reflect the same championship-level standards. We met Chad at one of his cafés in Taipei and were as impressed by the coffee as we were by his holistic approach to quality.
