About This Coffee

A decaffeinated coffee from the Motozintla region in Chiapas, Mexico, grown at 1,200–1,320 meters altitude in the shade of Inga trees. Produced by Jorge Arreola Nava, this 100% Arabica coffee is a blend of varieties including Catimor, Sarchimor, and Red Caturra. After harvesting and drying on a patio and in a mechanical dryer, the coffee is decaffeinated using the Mountain Water (Descamex) process. Bohnenkartell

Maximilian Kranz and Dominik Münstermann founded Bohnenkartell in Essen, building a cafe and roastery whose playful name, meaning "Bean Cartel," belies a serious commitment to specialty coffee. All green coffees meet the SCA Specialty Coffee standard of 80 points or above, and each batch is individually roasted on a drum roaster to preserve the unique aromas and characteristics of its origin. Bohnenkartell also offers SCA certified barista courses, cementing their role as both a quality focused roastery and an educational resource in the Ruhr Valley's specialty coffee scene.
