KARANGAN - Indonesia

Nordic Roasting Co.

About This Coffee

A village lot from the Karangan area of Sulawesi, Indonesia, grown by Latimojong Kalosi Farmers at 1300–1750 masl. The coffee is primarily the S795 variety, cultivated in a polyculture system with forest hardwoods as shade trees on average plots of 0.8 ha. It undergoes an experimental anaerobic fermentation process — sealed in bags for 4–6 days, then dried for 20–27 days on sheltered raised beds. The cup offers syrupy sweetness, full body, delicate passion fruit, and spicy notes.

Nordic Roasting Co.

Founded in 2020 by Francesco Impallomeni, Jacob Frankel, and Miguel Botero in Copenhagen's Amager district, Nordic Roasting Co. operates as a roastery, cafe, and educational hub. Their mission centers on providing high quality, sustainable, and ethically sourced specialty coffee while creating transparency about the social and environmental impacts of the coffee industry. Most of their coffee is direct traded with farmers, with remaining purchases made transparently through importers who disclose prices paid to producers. They craft roast coffee to bring out the essence of different terroirs, and provide customers with the full package: freshly roasted beans, state of the art brewing equipment, and ongoing training.
