About This Coffee

This naturally processed Arabica coffee comes from the Katana washing station in South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo, located at 1,693 meters above sea level. The coffee is grown by smallholder farmers in volcanic soil under shade trees using organic and sustainable practices. The Typica variety is cultivated and processed at one of eight quality-focused stations operated by the Virunga Coffee Company. The coffee is naturally processed on raised beds, resulting in a clean, fruit-forward cup with rich body and layered complexity. Tasting notes include brownie, peach, and blueberry jelly.

Alongside its retail locations at Open Works and Lexington Market, the roastery offers local Tuesday afternoon deliveries and direct to consumer subscriptions.
