This is a single origin coffee from the Kianyangi Coffee Factory in the Embu region of Kenya, located in the foothills of Mt Kenya. The coffee is grown at altitudes between 1300-1900 meters on red volcanic soil. It is a blend of common Kenyan varieties including SL-28, SL-34, Batian, and Ruiru-11 from smallholder farmers who own an average of 130 trees. The coffee is washed processed, with cherries depulped, fermented overnight, scrubbed, and dried on raised tables for 7-15 days. The cup profile features blackcurrant, lemon drops, and rhubarb, with characteristic Kenyan acidity and clarity.

After more than eight years of preparation, Manta Ray Coffee Roasters opened their flagship roastery in Nunawading, Melbourne, in October 2022. The industrial chic space features a visible roasting area framed by large windows, inviting visitors into the process. Drawing on a background in film color grading, the team approaches roasting as a form of creative expression, seeking to reveal depth and character in every batch. Award winners at the 2019 Roasters Smackdown and 2023 ASCA competitions, they offer their signature Outsider Blend alongside rotating single origins and an automated pour over experience at the bar.
