Kenya Kianyangi Embu Washed
Manta Ray Coffee RoastersAbout This Coffee
This single origin coffee comes from the Kianyangi Coffee Factory in the Embu region of Kenya, located on the foothills of Mt Kenya. Grown at elevations between 1300-1900 meters on red volcanic soil, the coffee is sourced from small farmers who own an average of 130 trees each. The coffee features Batian, SL-28, SL-34, and Ruiru-11 varieties. The washed processing includes depulping, overnight fermentation to soften mucilage layers, morning scrubbing, and drying on raised tables for 7-15 days. The factory is managed by Miriora Njeru and draws water primarily from the Kamithumo river. Flavor notes include blackcurrant, lemon drops, and rhubarb with characteristic Kenyan acidity and clarity.
