MOK Specialty CoffeeAbout This Coffee
Mugaya Coffee Factory, founded in 1975, is part of the Mutira Farmers' Cooperative Society located near Kagumo town in Kenya's Kirinyaga highlands at the foot of Mount Kenya. Around 1,700 smallholder farmers with farms averaging 0.1 hectares deliver ripe coffee cherries. The coffee is washed processed with 24 hours of dry fermentation, followed by washing with mountain water, six hours of soaking, and up to two weeks of drying on raised beds. Most coffee comes from SL-28 and SL-34 varieties, with smaller amounts of Batian and Ruiru-11. The volcanic soils and high altitude create ideal growing conditions for this AA grade coffee.

MOK Specialty Coffee
Founded in 2012 by Jens Crabbe, MOK began as a small roastery and bar in Leuven before expanding to Brussels. Jens, a two time former Belgian Cup Tasters Champion, is driven by a desire to explore the full potential of coffee flavor. MOK's philosophy is centered on an omni roast approach, where they develop one ideal roast profile for each coffee that works for both filter and espresso. This method aims to showcase the coffee's inherent sweetness and terroir with maximum clarity and minimal roast influence.
