Lucky Cat Coffee

About This Coffee

A light roasted Peaberry Bourbon coffee variety from the Kayanza region of Burundi, curated by Heza Station as part of the Long Miles Coffee Project in conjunction with farmers of Mikuba Hill. Peaberry beans develop singly within the coffee cherry, representing approximately 5% of all harvested beans. This unique growing condition is said to concentrate nutrients and sweetness, resulting in a more pronounced sweetness and a distinctive flavor profile compared to standard beans.

Lucky Cat Coffee

Henni and Didier, a couple bringing together German, Canadian, and Colombian backgrounds, founded Lucky Cat Coffee in 2022 in Dresden's Neustadt district. The name and logo draw from the maneki neko, the Japanese beckoning cat figurine associated with good fortune, setting a playful tone for a serious specialty roasting operation. They roast fresh batches on Mondays and Tuesdays, opening to customers from Wednesday through Sunday, and work exclusively within the light spectrum to highlight the unique taste characteristics of each coffee. Every roast profile is determined through thorough cupping sessions and follows an omni roast philosophy, meaning a single profile per coffee that performs across any brewing method. Their sourcing reflects a love of rare and exotic varieties, with Geisha, Sudan Rume, Sidra, and Pink Bourbon among the prized lots that pass through their roaster.
