Natural processed coffee from the Rwenzori region in Uganda, grown on volcanic soil by smallholder farmers. Elevation ranges from 1500-1900 meters. The coffee features varieties SL34, K7, and Blue Mountain. Selectively picked cherries are processed using the natural method, dried for 21-35 days, then milled in Kampala. Dark roasted with flavor notes of rum raisin and cacao, offering a smooth, grounded base with subtle sweetness and lift.
Founded in 2020 at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, Moonwake Coffee Roasters emerged from the passion of two former tech engineers, Ming Wood from Tesla and Mabel Yeung from Meta. What began as Ming's personal coffee project within Tesla's internal coffee club evolved into a full roastery operation after both founders chose to leave their tech careers to pursue coffee full time between 2023 and 2024. Moonwake represents a growing movement of technologists who discovered that coffee roasting offers greater fulfillment than their previous careers, channeling engineering precision into specialty coffee.
