Wadi Mahyad - Community Lot
Rabbit Hole RoastersAbout This Coffee
This natural processed coffee is from the Wadi Mahyad village in Al Mahwit governate, Yemen. The coffee is a community lot, combining production from smallholder farmers who individually produce less than the minimum export quantity. The Yemenia varietal showcases flavor notes of orange, carob, pecan, and caramel. The coffee is sourced through Qima Coffee, who has been working with farmers in this region to improve quality and market access. The Mahwit region has seen significant improvements, with volumes per tree increasing by 50% following Qima's distribution of seedlings less than three years ago.

Rabbit Hole Roasters
Founded in 2019 by David Lalonde and Sophie Moreau, two Montreal natives who met at the Montreal Coffee Academy, Rabbit Hole Roasters emerged with a vision to create a radically different type of coffee company. The company earned Roast Magazine's prestigious "Micro Roaster of the Year 2023" award for their commitment to truth before hype and people before profit. Their approach challenges industry norms by focusing on emerging origins, publishing transparency reports, and addressing uncomfortable truths about inequality in the coffee trade, all while maintaining that they "know very little about coffee" and are okay with that.
