Sanctuary Coffee

United Kingdom

Sanctuary Coffee was founded in 2021 by Marcus Wood and Rhian Nolan, both inspired by their experience adopting a rescue greyhound named Dionne. Marcus spent his entire adult life in the coffee industry, including a stint as Head of Coffee for a London social enterprise roastery, and channelled that expertise into building a business that shares 5% of total revenue with animal rescues across the UK. The roastery operates from a shared space with Old Spike Roastery in Peckham, London. Each blend is named after an animal supported by one of their six partnered sanctuaries, from Little Joe the pony to Fifty Three the pig. Since 2023, they have donated almost £15,000 to partnered rescue organisations, with full transparency reports published online.
