About This Coffee

This balanced Costa Rican coffee is a blend of crops from over 30 farming families at Helsar de Zarcero in the West Valley region, grown at 1600-1800 meters altitude. The coffee includes arabica varietals Caturra, Catuai, and Villalobos, processed using the washed method. It features a creamy, caramel-like body with praline flavor notes and pleasant orange-like acidity that lingers in the aftertaste. The medium roast profile works well for both espresso and filter brewing.

Ief & Ido

Ief & Ido is a specialty roastery in The Hague, the Netherlands, founded in 2018 by the father and son team Ido and Ief. Ido had been home roasting for over 15 years, at one point pulling shots on an original Faema E61, while Ief discovered specialty coffee through an espresso in Berlin that led him to study the craft across several countries. Together they roast on a Giesen W15 in an old industrial building in The Hague's southwest, combining hand regulated control with modern monitoring technology. Sourcing runs directly from farmers beyond Fairtrade standards, with fully traceable single origins from Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Costa Rica, Kenya and Mexico, each listed with processing method, tasting profile and body and acidity ratings. Ief & Ido supplies over 50 locations in the region including Michelin starred restaurants and the concert venue Paard van Troje, and delivers locally by cargo bike.
