Gatina AB Washed - Kenya
Naft Coffee RoastersAbout This Coffee
This coffee is from the Gatina Washing Station in Nyeri County, Kenya, located between the western slopes of Mt. Kenya and the eastern slopes of the Aberdares mountains. The station is managed by Mugaga Farmers' Cooperative Society and receives cherry from 790 members, with over 30% being women. The coffee features Batian, Ruiru-11, SL-28, and SL-34 varieties and is processed using the washed method. Cherry is selectively handpicked, hand sorted, pulped with a three-disc pulper, fermented overnight, washed in fresh river water from Mt. Kenya and Aberdares Mountains, and dried on raised beds for 7 to 15 days. The coffee exhibits floral, vanilla, and strawberry flavor notes.
