Kava FamilyAbout This Coffee
This coffee is produced by four smallholder farmers (Michael Mafabi, Paul Odangwe, Steven Wolyambogo, and Richard Wodulo) from two villages on the slopes of Mount Elgon in Eastern Uganda. Individual plantations range from 2–8 acres on steep volcanic slopes at altitudes of 1750–2100 meters, enabling a slow cherry-ripening process. Processed using the washed method, the coffee features a well-textured body with milk chocolate, macadamia, and apple notes, with hints of malic and citric acidity. Roasted with extra development for espresso suitability.

Kava Family
Founded by wedding photographers Ivana and Marko, Kava Family began with a single derelict space on Hvar island transformed into cafe Kava 37 before expanding to Split's mainland market. Their team includes Q Grader and coffee buyer Tobias Berg, who sources directly from Latin American origins after extensive travel through producing regions. The brand's visual identity reflects Hvar's landscape—green for vegetation, yellow for Mediterranean houses, blue for the Adriatic—creating a distinctly Croatian coffee aesthetic focused on community building and quality sourcing.
