Bukeye

About This Coffee

This single-origin coffee comes from Burundi's Kayanza region at 1760 meters altitude. The lot is sourced from farmers around Rubirizi Hill who deliver cherries to Bukeye washing station, built in 2013 by Long Miles Coffee. The variety is Red Bourbon, processed using the washed method. Fresh cherries are floated and hand sorted, then pulped and fermented in clean water. After fermentation, the parchment is washed, graded by density in channels, and moved to raised African beds for slow drying over twelve to twenty days in the Kayanza sun. The coffee features bright acidity, sweet fruit, and a syrupy texture with tasting notes of red currant, pear, and golden syrup.
