Colombia Sugar Cane Specialty Decaf
OR Coffee RoastersAbout This Coffee
This decaffeinated Colombian coffee comes from the Caldas cooperative, founded in 1960 and representing over 3,600 small family farm producers across eleven municipalities in Manzanares and Marquetalia. The coffee undergoes sugar cane decaffeination using ethyl acetate (EA) extracted from distilled sugar cane. This process involves steaming the beans, circulating a mixture of water, acetic acid, and EA to bind and extract caffeine while preserving flavor compounds. Roasted for espresso, this coffee offers brown sugar, sugar cane, and chocolate notes with a full body and low acidity.

OR Coffee Roasters
OR Coffee Roasters was established in 2001 by Tom Janssen and Katrien Pauwels, making it one of the foundational specialty roasters in Belgium. What began in a small garage in Aalst grew into a respected name with spaces in Ghent and Brussels. Their core mission is built on direct trade, with roughly 95 percent of their coffee sourced through direct fair trade relationships with farmers. They travel to origin to select their coffees, ensuring quality and ethical practices, and their roasting style brings out the unique characteristics of each origin through both accessible blends and more adventurous single origin lots.
