ONA Coffee

About This Coffee

This coffee is from Kainamui Coffee Factory, a washing station in Ngariama, Gichugu, Kirinyaga County on the slopes of Mount Kenya. Part of the New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society, it serves around 1,800 to 2,000 smallholder families who cultivate SL28 and SL34 varieties at elevations of approximately 1,650 to 1,800 metres. The coffee is washed processed and is a peaberry (PB) separation. Flavor notes include green apple, lime, and brown sugar. The lot is sweet and laden with fruit notes, with a brown sugar quality present on the finish and as the brew cools down. Established in 1963, the factory is renowned for clean, structured washed coffees with intense sweetness and clarity.

ONA Coffee

ONA Coffee was founded in 2008 by former Olympic handball player Saša Šestić, who started the roastery in his Canberra garage with a simple vision: to create and share great coffee. A revelatory experience with a specialty coffee that needed no sugar sparked his passion to introduce exceptional coffee to a wider audience. The company is built on the core values of innovation, community, and excellence, and they aim to create the best and most sustainable coffee in the world, sourcing high-quality green beans through their ethical trading company, Project Origin.
