About This Coffee

This coffee is from the Corazón de Jesús Micromill in Costa Rica's Brunca region, specifically from the Chirripó microregion. The lot is of the Milenio variety from Los Toños. The Alvarado Fonseca family, who established the micromill in November 2015, have earned fifth and third place awards in the 2021 and 2022 Costa Rica Cup of Excellence. This coffee underwent Double Anaerobic Natural processing, with freshly harvested cherries fermented in sealed barrels for 12 hours, dried on raised beds, then fermented again for 48 hours, followed by drying on raised beds for four days and patios for approximately 45 days. The coffee was selected as the 2025 Austrian AeroPress Competition Coffee for the Semifinals.

Coffee Pirates

Werner Savernik and Evelyn Priesch founded Coffee Pirates in 2012, establishing one of the first organic-certified third-wave roasteries in Vienna. Their philosophy is a fight against bad coffee, aiming to reintroduce the idea of roasting as a wonderful craft that highlights the unique flavors of different origins. They are deeply committed to building direct, long-term relationships with the farmers and cooperatives they source from.
