About This Coffee

This coffee is produced by Helsar de Zarcero in the sunny highlands of Llano Bonito, West Valley, Costa Rica at 1,600 to 1,800 meters altitude. The coffee is a blend of Caturra, Catuai, and Typica varieties, handpicked at optimal ripeness and processed using a washed method with a water-efficient Penagos machine that also detects unripe beans. After washing, the coffee is sun-dried on patios through a controlled eleven-day drying process. The flavor profile features licorice, nectar, juicy acidity, smooth mouthfeel, jasmine notes, and cacao nibs. Helsar de Zarcero is internationally recognized for sustainable coffee processing, using eco-pulpers with a mix of rainwater and fresh water, and cultivates organically while planting approximately 700 trees annually to offset CO₂ emissions.

Way Coffee Roasters

WAY Coffee Roasters was founded in Ghent in 2013 by Charlene De Buysere and Stoffel Vandenabeele, making them pioneers of the city's specialty coffee movement. Their roasting philosophy is centered on transparency and celebrating the bean's origin, which is why they prefer lighter roasts. This method allows the nuanced and delicate flavors developed at the farm level to truly shine through.
