Seven Seeds Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This natural processed coffee from Putra Gayo is grown in Takengon, Aceh, northern Sumatra, Indonesia. Produced by Iwannitosa Putra, the coffee comes from a 250-hectare farm with approximately 275,000 coffee trees including Gayo 1, 2, and 3 varieties. The varieties include Ateng, Bor Bor, Timor, and Catimor, cultivated at 1400-1650 meters above sea level. Unlike the common Sumatra wet-hulled process, this coffee uses natural processing. It features a clean and fizzy profile with notes of marmalade, apricot, and lychee. The lot was harvested in two periods: November to January and April to May. The coffee is shade-grown alongside Lamtoro, Banana, Orange, Avocado, and Jackfruit trees. Quality score: 87.5.

Seven Seeds Coffee Roasters

Established in 2007 by Mark Dundon and Bridget Amor, Seven Seeds was created to embody the ideals of exceptional and transparent coffee.A pioneer in Melbourne's coffee scene, the company's name honors the story of Baba Budan, who smuggled seven coffee seeds from Yemen, breaking the Arabic world's cultivation monopoly. Their approach is founded on transparency, and since 2018, they have published the "farmgate" price they pay directly to producers. They focus on building partnerships with producers, whom they see as professional colleagues.
